Our SaWUSa Teams went a combined 35-17 in our 52 games last week in Austria (United World Games) and Spain (Euro Basketball Cup). We sent 10 teams to compete and 6 of those teams took home hardware (3 Gold Medals and 3 Bronze Medals) to go along with a 5th, two 9ths, and a 25th place finish.
Highlighting the teams were dominant performances by our U14 Boy’s Basketball and u16 Girl’s Basketball teams who both went 6-0 in winning Gold. The u14 Boys were dominant, winning all games by 20+ points. The U16 girls won some close matches by 4, 6, and 9 before cruising in the final.
Our U19 West Boy’s Basketball Team took a totally different route to Gold. They were just 1-2 in Pool Play and snuck into the medal round as the 8th and final seed. They proceeded to win 3 straight in the medal round, including avenging a previous loss, to win the first Gold for a u18/u19 team in SaWUSA history!
Great effort by all SaWUSA teams! Below are their results…
