Wednesday morning the team woke in Amsterdam and bused into the city to and toured the Anne Frank house. The athletes and parents experienced history first hand walking through house she hub in and wrote the famous book. After the tour they enjoyed some final free time in the city and then loaded the bus for the short drive over to Apeldoorn, home of the Robur Series.
The series began with opening ceremonies including a marching band, introduction of the teams and the national anthems of the different countries. Then both teams took on Robur ’58, the local team from the Netherlands.
Both teams were a little rusty on the field but came together in the end. The baseball team gave up 6 runs in the first inning and eventually were down 7-0. However, eventually the bats came alive and the team pulled together to cap a thrilling comeback to tie the game at 7-7. The game ended as a tie.
The softball game was just a wild as our girls got out to an early 5-0 lead and held on for a 6-5 win.
For those of you interested in a live stream… The wifi makes it possible only to live stream from a location in left field of the baseball stadium (not viewable for softball). So unfortunately we can’t get you watchable video. But we will do outlet best to add more pictures and updates.
